Blake Shelton will no doubt bring his A-game to the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 12, given that he’ll be kicking off the show with some pretty impressive talents: Selena Gomez, last year’s host Nick Jonas and Star Wars’ furriest cast member, Chewbacca.
Borrowing from a time-honored show business adage, Blake Shelton is a man who needs no introduction, although the younger demographic of his fan base will increase substantially after he hosts Nickelodeon’s 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards.
Shelton, 39, is set to open the show with the trio, and a source tell Us that the hosting gig was actually Blake’s idea in the first place.
According to People magazine, Shelton will be opening the show at The Forum in Los Angeles with Selena Gomez, last year’s host Nick Jonas and a very special guest — Chewbacca from Star Wars.
Kids’ Choice show could be complete without the inevitable.
“We always try to outdo ourselves, so let’s just say we are planning to take advantage of the Forum in ways we’ve never done before by engulfing the audience in slime,” Schmalholz revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.
“[He] had been going through literally the exact same thing in literally the exact same time frame,” Stefani told The New York Times about the timing of their relationship. (The pair exclusively confirmed their romance to Us in November.)
“It’s almost like one of those movies where they discover they have magic,” Stefani said of being inspired to write new music after finding love with Shelton. “When I was able to first write a song, that’s when I found my whole self.”
